Eyelash Extension FAQs
Frequently asked questions
What Are Classic Eyelash Extensions?
An advanced method of beauty enhancement in which one eyelash replica is bonded to one natural eyelash, creating natural looking fullness and boldness. They are semi-permanent and will last 2-6 weeks with retouches needed to fill in new lashes every 2-4 weeks. Professional application is highly recommended for this type of service in order to avoid potential damage to the eyelashes, eyes, and skin around the eyes.
What are the benefits of Eyelash Extensions?
Look and feel more glamorous from morning to night with little effort.
What do they look like and how do they feel?
Properly applied eyelash extensions look indistinguishable from real lashes and feel absolutely normal. They will simply be longer, curlier, fuller, and more noticeable than before! As long as you maintain the touch-up applications, it is extremely difficult to notice that you are wearing extensions.
How long do Eyelash Extensions Last?
When properly applied eyelash extensions will remain in place until the natural lash it is bonded with ends the growth cycle and falls out. This can be two months or more. Some extensions may shed sooner because the attached natural lashes are at or near the end of their growth cycle when initially applied. You may notice the shedding more with Eyelash Extensions but it is perfectly normal. With proper care, touch-ups are typically only needed once every 2 to 4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed.
Will extensions damage my eyelashes?
Extensions properly applied by a professionally trained and certified technician who uses quality products should not damage your natural eyelashes. However, your lashes can be damaged if you go to someone who was not properly trained and uses cheap products not intended for extended wear.
What are the Eyelash Extensions made out of?
Our goal is to minimize the chance of irritation and reactions, therefore we feel it is best to utilize eyelash extensions which are crafted from synthetic material rather than from animal hair like mink. Synthetic lashes are also more durable than other materials.
How long does the eyelash extension application take?
It generally takes between 120 to 150 minutes to apply a full set of Eyelash Extensions.
Can you describe the application process?
Eyelashes are cleaned with a natural tear free shampoo followed up by witch hazel to remove any excess oils or dirt. A fan is used to dry the lashes before the procedure begins. Bottom lashes are held down with tape and/or eye pads. You will be comfortably reclined with your eyes closed while the extensions are applied one by one to your natural eyelashes.
Is the application process safe?
Allergic reactions do happen, but are rare. What is more common is sensitivity to the products or infection due to improperly washing and caring for your lashes. Although many feel lash extensions will last longer if not wet, not washing your eyelashes is the most common cause of infection and premature loss of lashes.
Can I use mascara or eyelash growth products with my extensions?
Yes, if oil free!
I have short lashes or no lashes, can I wear Eyelash Extensions?
Because Eyelash Extensions are applied to existing natural lashes you must have some natural lashes to receive the procedure. However, if the natural eyelashes are too short or unhealthy, it may be best to avoid the procedure.
How do I care for my new eyelashes?
- Do not get your eyelashes wet, use a spa, sauna, pool, tanning bed, or excessive sunlight for the first 24-48 hours. The extensions need enough time to properly bond.
-
When washing your face/showering be cautious of moisture and do not allow the water to run over your eyelashes. It is recommended that you use a wash cloth or wipe to clean around the eyes. -
Avoid heavy exercise and sweating for the first 24-48 hours. -
It is extremely important to keep the lashes clean by regular washing. ONLY use oil-free cleansers or makeup removers. We recommend Witch Hazel or a natural tear free soap/shampoo. -
When wet, blot the eyelashes with a lint free cloth or towel and let them air dry. You can also use a hair dryer on the cool setting - blow them dry from the bottom up for more curl and fluff. -
Be cautious to avoid the lash line when applying facial and eye creams. Too many oil-based products can break down the adhesive. -
Do not use eyelash curlers with your extensions. With proper application you will not need them. -
ONLY use oil-free, non-waterproof mascaras safe for eyelash extensions. Only apply the mascara to the tips of your lashes. -
Use a mascara wand to gently brush eyelashes into place if they become tangled or crossed. The best time to do this is after showering, as they will be softer and less likely to damage. -
You can purchase an eyelash extension sealant to extend the longevity of your lash extensions in between fills. -
If you can, sleep on your back to avoid the risk of lashes rubbing against your pillow or wear an eye mask while sleeping. -
Avoid pulling your lashes, and do not attempt to remove them yourself. If you would like them removed, please contact your technician
How do I prepare for my eyelash extension appointment?
• Avoid using waterbased mascara 2-3 days before your first appointment. The film it leaves on your lashes may prevent the extensions from adhering correctly.
